I picked my little guy (Aaron's 7) up at school, just before lunch. We spent the whole afternoon together! Mission... NEW SHOES and NEW JEANS...
Yesterday he was in his bare feet. Oh my goodness... what big feet! His feet are practically as big as mine!
First we went for lunch... China Buffet. Chicken on a stick is Aaron's favorite. On the way to the next stop (1/2 an hour away....) he kept saying... Mommy, I'm so full!
We went to this great shoe place that specializes in boots... this is in Cody, Wyoming. Aaron got a pair of Merrill slip on shoes... then began to oogle at the beautiful boots. OK... we ended up getting cowboy boots too. Then the sparkley belts caught his eye... then the spurs.. .and the cowboy hats... I hope that this child makes a lot of money in his adult years! He loves to look nice. (Yes... he loves convertibles and sporty cars too! This is my 7 year old, we're talking about! Oh my... what will his teenage years bring????)
We also went to the Buffalo Bill museum for a little bit... then off to Walmart... Got some premade subs and chips... had a tailgate picnic before the hour ride home.
I'm tired! But it was fun to spend time alone with him!
Living life to it's fullest... puttering around the kitchen... and raising a family in the beautiful Wyoming countryside!

My journey in composting is about to begin...
Rich bought me this composter at Cosco recently. It got put together tonight.
Our soil here is in desperate need of organic matter. Some of it is just thick clay... (it's the most awful stuff when it gets wet... when you step in it... your foot gets consumed by it! Actually, you've got to move fast through it... so you don't get sucked down into it... like quicksand... or at least it feels like that!!!! LOL!)
I actually read the instruction that came with the composter! It says to start out with with leaves, then add some soil, then kitchen scraps.
Tomorrow I'll find a good place for my composter and get it going. Wish me luck!
Oh, my blueberry bushes came the other day. I'm going to plant them near the house in the back of my flower garden. Got any Springy things happening at your place?

New babies...
Down the block there are these adorable little, all black lambs. Oh, they are so cute! I'll post a picture soon. On the other side of town are two fawn colored baby horses... OK.. I'm a city girl.. what do you call baby horses?
The fields are full of lots of newborn calves too. I was visiting a friend recently who raises black angus. There, out her picture window (beautiful view overlooking the pasture land and sand hills!) was a cow giving birth. Wow!
Things are sure looking springy here. I was to Billings, Montana on Monday. Everything was so green! I thought for a brief moment that I was back home in New England... then I came back to my senses as the mountains came into view!
It sure is amazing what a little moisture does to the ground out here.

What to cook for supper?
Hmm... What to cook for supper. Ok, I'm in a dinner cooking rut... Guess that I'd better dig out some recipe books and find some interesting recipes.
But now... it's time to make something... but what? Too cold to grill. Actually it would be a good soup day... had I gotten that started earlier...
Are you making something yummy?

Rich and I were down the property today (where we're building our home). I looked over at the Pryor Mountains and saw dark ominous clouds.
We worked quickly to get our measuring done as the clouds blew quickly over our heads. I remember thinking that we were really going to get it. Then.. a few drops fell on us... followed by wind... followed by a clear beautiful blue sky.

The wind blew me away...
It so windy here today. Did you hear that gust of wind? I never knew that the wind could be so LOUD! It reminds me of roar of Niagra Falls!
We became lobster people yesterday. No one would put on sunscreen before they headed out! And so we have become (actually... not me! Just the male part of my family) lobster people... bright red! One woman at church announced that out of an act of compassion she was going to buy us a BIG bottle of sunscreen.
Guess what? Today no one wanted to leave the house without putting some on! We have to learn the hard way.

The sun is back! It's just gorgeous today!
Just visited a friend who our is town compost expert. Our soil here has lots of clay and is very alkaline. So composting or amending the soil is really a must. I need to learn more about this... the soil here in Wyoming is NOTHING like the soil back in Massachuesetts!
I'm heading out the door to do some more raking. Got to figure out a good place for my composter too.

Stuck in the mud...
Good morning fellow bloggers from the land of overcast, green, soggy (and really muddy!) Wyoming. Happy Friday to you.
I called a friend and asked if we could come by to visit. They have a new house here in town. She said NO... Then proceeded to tell me why...
They haven't done any landscaping yet... and the cars are stuck in the mud... and if we came to visit... we would TOO be stuck in the mud.
Luckily when the sun DOES come out again (oh... oh... there's a glimpse of it!) things dry up pretty quickly in this dry climate.

Junie B.
Aaron and I have been reading Junie B., First Grader Toothless Wonder. What a great book! I just love this witty character!
We are on day 4 of rain/snow. My bread is getting moldy... My front door is swelling... I feel like I'm back in rainy New England! Not the nice dry WEST!
All we need now is some nice sunshine to get stuff blooming.
My little guy's face is changing. Sigh... He's looking "older." Sigh... He's so cute with all those freckles dotting his face. I keep telling him that I'm going to get a market and connect all his dots! He says, OK... but don't use a permanent marker.

I looked out my window...
OK, day 2 of snow... I just went to take a picture to post, but my battery had run out of charge. I'll try again in a bit.
I bragged way too much about how beautiful it was here last week. This is day 3 of overcast weather with snow and rain. But... I am NOT COMPLAINING! We've been in a drought situation for several years here. So this moisture is a great blessing... especially as the farmers get their crops planted.
You should see how green everything is now. I just love it! The grass, the fields, the trees all are bright green in celebration of moisture.
The boys had their Spring Concert last night. They sang some really cute songs. This year we got to the school early enough to get front row seating.
Well, that marks the count down till school gets out. I believe that our kids are out on May 25th this year. Then baseball will begin. What did I do with those baseball gloves?

This is just way too cool!
OK. As I write this blog entry, I am enjoying the sound of birds singing, sunshine, a cool breeze, the smell of my seseme chicken searing on the grill... all outside...
I have a wireless network that I haven't used very much. But it sure is nice to have the option of parking myself outside if the weather is nice... Which... it... is... just wonderful today!!!!
I dug up my flower bed this afternoon. Next... sprinkle some wild flower seeds around...
OK... time for supper. We'll eat outside tonight. How was your Saturday?

Some thoughts as the back door slams shut...
You can tell that the good weather is here when...
- the kids want to play outside after supper
- the back door become like a revovling door... kids in... kids out...
- no one wants to do the raking!
Happy Tax Day...
My mother called yesterday to say how proud she was of us...
Yes... we finished our taxes... DAYS EARLY!
If you're still struggling with your taxes my thoughts and prayers are with you!

What a sweetheart!
My little guy came in the house yesterday with something hidden under his jacket. "Mommy, don't look! I have a present for you. Do you have a box and some tape?"
Box secured and duct tape found... the wrapping began...
I opened the uniquely wrapped box to find a rock, shaped like a heart. What a sweetie!

Composting?
Hi there!
Does anyone out there do composting? We have clay to sandy soil here in the Big Horn Basin, Wyoming. So, the soil needs amending big time! Actually, it's amazing what does grow here in this desert land with a little bit of raw water.
Would love any tips that you could share on your composting success!

A walk in the country
I was inspired by Mel to take my kids for a walk after school yesterday. It was a beautiful day here in northern Wyoming.
So off we headed down the road, past our property, down the canal road which leads out into the country. Matthew had his bb gun with him and Aaron had a bag of pretzels. As we got going, we wished that we had carried some water with us.
Not long on the trail, the country side opened up. There before us were fields prepared for the season, cows grazing, and this old log cabin off in the distance. Heart mountain's distinctive shape was pointed out by Aaron as well as places that he thought would make good camping spots. There were big trees filled with birds. And lots of animal tracks.
Matthew asked if we could go camping this weekend. Burr... still a little cold for me!
We headed back as we all began to get thirsty.

Ahhh... the sun is shining bright...
Most of the weekend was overcast and rainy. But today, the sun is shining bright and the sky is blue.
How was you weekend? Mine seemed to go by too fast.
The kids are off to school. Everyone was in good spirits this morning. I made the boys whole wheat waffles (with fresh gound white wheat from my Vita Mix!). Matthew eat his two up lickity split... but Aaron decided for whatever reason that he wasn't going to eat his... I also made the boys whole fruit shakes (orange, pinapple, and strawberries with yogurt... and some sugar [I'm easing them into this whole food thingy!]) At least they both drank their shakes up!!!
I got this Vita Mix recently. Been using it to make fruit smoothies, soups, and grind grain for bread. I've wanted one of these for years!!! I saw it demonstated maybe 7 years ago at the Topsfield Fair in Massachusetts. Then Cosco in Billings had them on demonstration and at a really good price... well... I could not be restrained!
OK, off I go to make myself an orange, banana, strawberry, cantalope smoothy. Shall I save some for you?

Date Night... Friday...
Hello. I was going to say good morning, but heck IT'S AFTERNOON... already.
Rich and I had a fun date night last night. The kids spent much of the afternoon and then all night at grandma's.
Rich and I went for supper at my favorite mexican restaurant. Oh... they have this dish called fried shrimp (which is not really a fried shrimp, but more of a stir-fry deal with mexican spices like cumin...). It comes with red & yellow bell peppers, onions, guacomole, sour cream, refried beans, rice, shredded lettuce topped with diced tomatoes.... and 2 tortillas. It is soooooo goood!
Then we mosied on to Cody for a home show. We gathered up some info and got some ideas for our new house... like... central vacuum... and insulation... There were lots of hot tub vendors there.... wouldn't that be nice!!!
But there weren't any vendors for Air Purification... So maybe next year, I'll venture out and exhibit this . I'm sure that there are some asthma & allergy sufferers around here... sure has helped Matthew a lot.
Then... we treated ourselves to a this movie. It was sooooo goood! I highly recommend it. It's got lots of adventure and humor.

Blogger.com, You annoy me sometimes...
OK, yesterday I wrote a nice post. But blogger hick-upped... and now... it's gone...
I won't complain too much because... heck... IT IS FREE! And FREE is good!
Thanks you guys for coming by yesterday and leaving me some comments. I've already gotten my money's worth for this Haloscan comment upgrade thingy.
I made pizza yesterday, a whole cookie sheet of it, partly pepperoni. Well, it turns out that my boys who have been CHEESE ONLY PLEASE... their whole short lives.... have decided that heck... pepperoni is actually pretty good!
We had a pizza picnic yesterday. It was gorgeous out! We attracted all kinds of neighborhood kids to our pizza picnic.... good thing it was a big pizza!

OK, I paid the $12 for the upgraded HaloScan account. You don't get email notifications of comments unless you "upgrade." So... comment away... so that I can get my $12's worth!!!
Just put a load of towels out on the line. It's a nice breezy day. Now... for... bedding... (arggg...)

Cleaned the kitchen up a bit today. What a difference. Yes, the table is TOTALLY cleaned off!
My husband entered the kitchen and paused... "Wow..."
There's something on my floor that won't come off... could it be super glue? No... couldn't be....
Yes, taxes are almost done. How many days left? 8... OK... I'm sure that we'll "way" beat the deadline!

Cleaned out my wild flower bed this afternoon and the spot where I put my tomotoes. Still feeling ambitious... began to rake the deeply piled leaves in the front yard. Shoot that's hard work!!!
Finished planting the day lillies that my friend gave me. Oh, a neighbor gave me some seeds from his moon flowers. Not sure where to plant them...
Walked with Aaron down to our property at sunset. Sure was pretty. The sky had a yellow tinge to it. We picked out a place for Nanny & Grampy to put their house.
Taxes almost done!!! Yeah!!!! Are you done yet?
Another beautiful day here. In the 70s.

Day Lillies
My neighbor brought over some day lillies for me from her garden over the weekend. It was a gorgeous spring day here... so late afternoon I started digging and planting. OK, I definately have spring fever now!!!

The weekly elementary newsletter came home...
The report from Matthew's 5th grade class:
"Due to Mrs. J's efforts to be a mother hen to the incubated eggs, she 'messed' with the thermostat too much and consequently the eggs got too hot over the Easter break...."
Ooopppss!

Spring has really sprung!
It's a gorgeous day here today, must be in the 60s. A friend just dropped by to share some lillies with me. I'm going to plant them in a few hours.
Rich and I had a wonderful day yesterday. Spent the day in Billings, Montana. Went for lunch at the Olive Garden... their salad is sooo good! I had eggplant parmesean... yummy!!!
The hard drive on our 5 year+ old iMac is on it's way out. Now this is the computer that has all our tax stuff on it. So we decided to invest in a new one. Got that MacMini... but had problems with it... took it back and spurged on a new pretty iMac. Mac sure makes some good looking computers.... this iMac looks like a big iPod.

Burrr... cold... day....
It's been windy and on the cool side here in northern Wyoming. It's storming up in the mountains.
No walk today... too cold... (Am I a whimp or what?)
It's just after supper here. We had tacos, a family favorite. It'll be time to put Aaron to bed VERY SOON... Matthew has a scout meeting tonight.
Our iMac(at least 5 years old now) hard drive is going.... Rich bought one of those MacMinis.. it keeps freezing up on him. What a pain! It's going back to the store tomorrow. Apple support said that the RAM may be a problem. Hmmm... Another trip to Billings, a 180 mile round trip at $2.07/gallon for gas...
Time to put little guy to bed.

Time for bed...
My day...
-Worked all morning.
-Got a call from Matthew's school about an IEP meeting TODAY AT 3:20... I didn't know anything about IT! Rich was in Billings... he didn't know about it either... the notice was in Matthew's backpack...
-Back in time to make supper (canned chilli... doctored up)
-Off again to a church meeting.
-HOME and ready for bed...
Busy day!!!!
But... things got put into perspective when I read Mel's blog... Would you stop by and give her a couple words of encouragement?

entering the zone...
You are now entering the zone.... of... BB gun negotiations...
Yes, Matthew (now 11 years old) wants a BB gun. Now... had we still be living in the city... outside of Boston... this would be a "non-issue!" But we're not... we're in the wilds of Wyoming... and there's lots of safe places to shoot a BB gun at Grandpa's farm...
Oh... sigh...
Don't read this next paragraph if you're eating right now...
I was busily getting ready for Easter dinner. I was alone in my kitchen... had sent everyone to Grandma's... I was singing an Easter hymn to myself...
When... I got a little to0 comfortable and carefree... in chopping up my cucumber. OUCH!!!!
I'll spare you the gory details. I'm OK... not stitches...
Recently, I told Richard that I wanted to get one of these slicer thingys. He reaction... oh no... you'll be cutting your arm off with that!
Does anyone have a mandoline? Do you use it? Do you like the brand that you got? Would I be cutting myself all the time with it? (OK.. I know that you can't answer that one!)
How was you Easter? We had a really nice afternoon. It was a nice warm day. The boys played outside most of the afternoon. I went for a nice walk...
Rich and I headed down to the property to check things out. The mud is drying up... We'll be working on the house again soon.

Out for a walk...
The boys were at the park playing and Rich was home making his very yummy clam chowder. Oh man... is that stuff good!!! Rich warned me NOT to BLAME him if I gain 2 pounds tomorrow....
I decided to escape for a nice walk down to our property. It was a pleasant late afternoon with bright sunshine. I walked around the upper blocks near our property then down the canal road backtracking to our little piece of Wyoming.
There's this open spot that is prairy grass surrounded by Russian Olive Trees. Oh... the view of the mountains... Heart Mountain and Bear Tooth Mountain crowned in snow shimmering in the beautiful colors of sunset. I just stood and stared at the majestic beauty.
Then I sat down in the prairy grass just memerized by the quiet of my peaceful solitude. Ahh... Soon, I found myself laying back in the grass, my eyes focusing on the white puffy, swirly cloud formations with a background of bright blue sky.
I have found a new special place...
I came home at dusk to find my family enjoying that clam chowder without me... Richard was ready to send out the calvary to retrieve me...

I came home at dusk to find my family enjoying that clam chowder without me... Richard was ready to send out the calvary to retrieve me...
When will I learn?
Sometimes I must learn and re-learn.. and... yes... learn again...
When Aaron doesn't get to bed ON-TIME... he gets a bag case of the UGLIES...
Why don't I seem to recall this FACT??? Sigh...
Wanted to take the family out for lunch today.... but...

It's healthy to laugh at one's self...
OK... I got this new cell phone from Verizon. It's the flip up kind. It's got a speaker phone on it that I just love... I'll give my mom a call and we can chit chat while I'm working in the kitchen....
Anyway...
Been faithfully putting it on the charger the past couple nights... but noticed that it was down to one bar in the graph thingy. Well... You ready?
I had been plugging the charger connection into the headphone jack. OK... go ahead... you can laugh! (LOL!)

kids slept at grandma's last night...
The house is very quiet this morning... I think that the boys may be going to the farm with grandpa this morning... we'll see...
It's spring vacation here. The kids had 1/2 day yesterday at school and now don't go back till Tuesday (3/29).
Rich is going to make his famous Clam Chowder today. It's so yummy!

As my son Matthew was begging to go out to eat (my cooking can't be THAT bad!)... Taco Bell... Chinese food... Pizza... I noticed his beautiful eye lashes. I don't know... they just seem so long tonight...
Why do boys have the most beautiful long, black eye lashes? It's just NOT fair!
Supper...
Hamburgers
sweet potato (I'm the only one who would eat it)
salmon burger (for me)
salad... (me again..)
peas..
It's been lightly snowing most of the day here. But most of it has been absorbed by the dry soil. The mountains have a nice fresh blanket of white. It's so pretty!
Grandpa brought the horses from the farm to the pasture between our houses. Actually, there's a large pasture behind our little house too... all connected... I like looking out my kitchen and office windows and seeing them grazing... (Maybe I would just take this for granted had I grown up here... but... remember... I'm a city-girl (from Boston) gone country... so all this country stuff still mezmerizes me!

homemade Cream of Broccoli Soup and...
Supper at our house...
First course... cream of broccoli soup.
Matthew attempts to eat it by holding his nose and swallowing fast...
Aaron decides he doesn't like it because Matthew made such a fuss.
Lemon chicken and stir-fried brown rice...
Mom, what's wrong with this chicken? Can't we have something NORMAL?
Should I even discuss the nice green salad?

OH NO!!!
OK, I thought I was doing a good thing by adding that comment thingy... Halo something... but I see that I have totally messed up... and now... I have NO comments...
Hmmm...
Sorry! I love your comments. I'll try to get this fixed up!
PS... It's snowing here.... and we're back to cold....
Grandpa put the horses back in the pasture. I can see them behind the house... right from my window in the office.

My family...
I had my hair restored to my natural color. In my mind, I am the blonde of my youth... but with each pregnancy... my hair got darker and darker...
(My husband is getting a big laugh out of this... "restored to my natural color" has got him laughing so hard... he's choking!)
Anyway... I have blonde highlights again.
My son, Matthew, asked me, "Mom, why is your hair YELLOW?"
OK, the important thing is that I LIKE IT!!!!
I'm off to part 2 of the Interior Design class at the college. This is the final night. We're learning about color and going on a field trip. More later!

Bright sunny, warm day...
Greetings from sunny, spring-like Wyoming!
It turned out to be a beautiful day here. It is so good to see the sun and to have a warm day. Been cold here for a week or so... I'm about ready to head out for another walk.
Matthew just left on his electric scooter for basketball practice. Aaron's at homework club this afternoon. Rich headed to Billings, MT with our iMac...
Oh... the hard drive on our iMac is going... Sad... it has all the tax stuff on it... of course! Rich took it to a mac fixer place. They say it'll be $400 to fix it... Shoot!
Homemade pizza for supper tonight. I'll get the dough mixed up after my walk. Better head out before my indians come home.

Thoughts of home...
I made chicken curry last night. Chunks of chicken, carrots, sweet potato, onion, and celery served over Jasmine rice. Yummm!
My friend Kieko from Japan, showed me how to make this years ago. It's been a family favorite since then.
I have to say that I do miss the wonderful cultural diversity of Boston. It must be time for a trip home!
Have a peaceful, restful, calm Sunday... one that prepares you for the week ahead!

ABCs of Renewable Energy
Rich and I were out for a date last night. We went to a lecture on the ABC's of Renewable Energy. It was really interesting! The instructor recently installed a wind turbine (which is on the grid!) at his home. Rich went for the tour today.
Matthew is off to the farm this morning to help grandpa move the pigs around. Grandpa has a hog farm!!!
Oh... we're well into tax preparations! My dear sweet accountant husband has graciously taken on sorting through my many receipts for this biz and that biz. He loves that kind of stuff... I on the other hand.... CRINGE at the thought! I love talking with people and he loves all the detail work. It's a good combination, the two of us!
I'm sad to report that I have NOT been out for my daily walks since the weather turned cold about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I sure feel it too!
Today I shall:
GO for a nice long walk!

where have I been?
Tuesday was parent/teacher conference afternoon. I just love this little town.... with teachers that actually live in the community (for the most part). Country life is very much agreeing with our boys!!
Each parent/teacher conference was very enjoyable with lots of positives... both boys are doing very well this year. Whew....
I could have had a whole blog last year... all about Aaron and kindergarten... I used to cringe everytime the phone rang... it was school... and Aaron would be having a tough day....
But... he's doing great this year!!!
Wednesday was Matthew's birthday.... but I was in charge of a big dinner at church... the next day... Thursday.. was recovery day... for me... Oh, I also managed to squeeze in... getting my hair done!
Thursday (yes... that was yesterday...OK...), Grandma made Matthew his favorite meal of fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosing (which ended looking like um... throw-up!) and covered it with ground up oreo cookies and gummy worms. I know... it doesn't sound appetizing but remember, we're talking about an 11 year old here!
Friday... went to the health fair blood drawing thingy. They got 2 tubes worth from me for various tests....
Tonight is DATE NIGHT!
I signed us up to go to a lecture at the college. The ABCs of Renewable Energy. The gentleman who is giving this one night lecture put a 10KW wind turbine near his home... generates all the electricity for his home with it... and with the extra... he sells that back to the electric company. Woody, I know that you'd love this class!! Anyway, we're both looking forward to it.
That's my life for this week! How's it going with you?

What was I thinking? Oh... what was I thinking...
Chords of this popular country song rang in my mind as we struggled to get Aaron out the door for school....
Rich took the boys out for dinner at Taco Bell (my kid's favorite place!) and to see the movie Robots last night. The movie started at 7:15. They got home about 9:15pm. Yes... I agreed to this!!!
Lesson learned...
Not enough sleep makes for a very grumpy little guy come morning!!! Hey, I knew this already... what was I thinking?

Snow!
It's a snowy Monday morning. Got a dusting during the night, but it's melting away. When I got up this morning, our kittens were waiting outside to come in... all covered in a blanket of snow. Poor things!
They like to be outside now that the weather isn't so cold.
Matthew got his motor scooter on Friday. It looks like this one, but it's not the pro model. He and Rich put it together yesterday.
Oh my... I feel like I should still be sleeping... Just took some of this to get me going.
Rich and I will be going out for lunch today. That will be nice. We're running to Cody in a few hours.
It's sooooo nice to have him back home!!! Hey, how was your weekend?

Rich is HOME!
Greetings loyal visitors at the kitchen table!
Ah.... Rich is home!!! He got in last night around 9pm. It's so good to have him home. I didn't realize how anxious I was during his trip. The boys too!
I feel settled again....
Just spoke with my Dad in southern, New Hampshire. They got another foot of snow from that storm yesterday. New England has sure had their fair share of snow this year!
We even had snow, sleet, and rain yesterday. For a while it looked like a blizzard here in northern Wyoming... But by later in the afternoon, the ground had soaked up all the moisture, and the snow was all gone.
I haven't been for my walk for a few days now... And I sure feel it!
Time to get ready for church. Have a nice Sunday. May it be peaceful and relaxing!

Did I say that it was nice & sunny?
Right after I wrote my blog entry this morning... the sun quickly got clouded over. What a nasty day it has been. Snow...sleet...wind...cold.
OK, back to housework...
OK, back to housework...
Getting ready...
It's Saturday.
Rich will be home today, probably late. He stayed in Sioux Falls,SD last night. He's got about 700+ miles left to go. He's been hitting lots of snow.
I spoke to my parents in southern New Hampshire. They're getting another blizzard which should dump about another foot of snow on them... Boy, New England has been hit hard this year! They seem to be back in that snow cycle.
It's a beautiful sunny day here. You know... before I came to live here and was just an occaissional summer visitior, I didn't think that Wyoming EVER had a cloudy, rainy day.
We would generally come out for Pioneer Day which is the end of July. And it would just be gorgeous! Sunny, warm, and dry... Now... remember, I'm from New England!
Today...
Clean the house
Begin and hopefully finish tax preparations...
GO FOR A WALK!
Maybe... take the kids to see Robots... maybe... if their room gets cleaned-up...

Happy Friday!!!
Good morning bloggin friends!
It's a beautiful sunny day here in northern Wyoming. Supposed to get up in the 60s!
We'll be taking a trip to the big city (Billings, MT) today. The kids are out of school at 12:15 (every Friday, they get out at that time!), so... off we'll go.
Matthew has been scrimping and saving his allowance and working extra jobs in order to buy himself one of those electric scooter thingys. So.. he now has enough.
Rich was in Wisconsin overnight. He's making his way back home. He delivered our pillows and picked up supplies for the next campaign...
It will be so good to have Rich back home! I miss him!!!!
Oh ya... then there's the dreaded TAX... preparation... I've decided to delve into that on Saturday afternoon. Two business... and personal stuff....
OK, I need a change of attitude about this... let's see...
"I am so looking forward to receiving my tax refund! Getting all my stuff together won't take long... then I'll be done!" How's that?

The Farmers are...
Just back from an incredible power walk with my friend Ana. Whew...
We walked out toward the country. The farmers are out preparing for the next planting. I was sooo excited to see this!!! It's a wonderful sign of spring!!!
It's just beautiful here this afternoon.
We're having homemade pizza for supper... well... actually just boys are having pizza. I'm on a day 1 rotation on my program... which means fresh fruits and veggies for today.

Boys and paints...
Got home last night from helping serve dinner at the church...
Grandma was watching the kids for me...
Aaron and his buddy were playing at her house while she was cooking dinner...
Well...
They had gotten into these arcrylic paint tubes (watch out when kids are quiet!) AND GOTTEN PAINT all over themselves... and I don't know what else (haven't been over there yet to survey the damage!) They couldn't get the paint out, so they just broke the tubes in half...
Rich update...
Rich is on his way to pick up stuffing. It finally made it to Massachusetts from Canada. I'm hoping that he'll make it back Saturday evening or Sunday. Single momhood is tough!!!
My heart goes out to anyone in this tough situation!

What? It's 6pm, already?
Hi bloggin' friends!
I enjoyed a nice walk at noon time today. The mountains were so pretty with newly covered snow. The bird were singing away, declaring the coming of Spring. I even heard a chickadee's song as I neared my home.
Rich is still in Massachusetts... Our shipment of stuffing hasn't made its way from Canada yet.... And snow is on its way tonight.... Sure hope that he's able to head back home tomorrow.
Pinewood durby is Thursday evening... Thankfully... Uncle John is helping Matthew with the car's most important feature... wheels! Woody, I would have asked you if you lived closer!
I'm off tonight to church to help with a dinner....

A peaceful morning... short lived!
Oh my... my little guy (age 7) must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. He was a beart this morning!!!
After spending "time on the wall" (a place for him calm down... and get himself together), he did eventually get to school.
And now... my house is quiet again. Just me today. Rich is still traveling.
Does anyone want to come do my dishes? I'll trade off a chore that you don't like, OK?
Robyn and I are taking our friend Ann out for lunch today. She's had a tough couple weeks... family stuff (need I say more?)

Time zipping by...
Good morning! The above audio is just a good morning welcome!
Ah... another Monday! Is it me or do the day and weeks seem to zoom by at an alarming rate?
I was just telling Matthew that he has only a couple months left of school. My kids get out the end of May.
OK, I should be sleeping... but...
Hi!!! Hope that you had a wonderful weekend!! Did you do anything fun?
I'm fooling around with some new software that allows me to capture audio for playback on websites and in email. If you're interested in Stress Relief or want a better understanding of how stress effects the body... would you check out this out?
If you do listen in... would you give me some feedback. This package is kind of exciting... as I've been trying to find an easy way to share information with people all over the country without having to use snail mail. I love technology, it makes my life so much easier!!!!
We had a quiet weekend. Rich made it out to New Hampshire in about 4 days. 2500 miles... in just 4 days. Incredible!!!!
Our pillows have been delivered. He'll pick up more supplies and head home probably on Tuesday.
OK... I'm heading to bed now... it's 12:55am on Monday morning...

Good Sunday Morning!
I can't believe that my boys are still sleeping.... it's 7:23am. Yesterday they were literally up at the crack of dawn... around 6am...
Hey Coach Steve! Thanks for dropping by today!!! Have a nice day.
I'm sitting here getting ready for a class that I'm going to teach at church. Each Sunday, we have 3 blocks of meetings. The first is called Sacrament, the 2nd is Sunday School, and in the last block the men and women separate for their own respective meetings.
Well, I will be the teacher this week for our women's meeting. I've been really excited about the topic because it has had such an impact on my life.... "thinking!"
Here's something for you to think about today...
David O. McKay
Chapter 23
"The kind of life you live, your disposition, your very nature will be determined by your THOUGHTS, of which your ACTS are but the outward expression. Thought is the seed of ACTION.
Interesting huh?
Well I'd better get to finishing up before the kiddos get up!!!!
Have a nice relaxing Sunday!

Good morning in audio!!!!
Good morning! For some strange reason, I woke up at 5am this morning...
I've been trying to figure out a way to share audio files both on my blogs and via email. As I was researching this... at a way too early time this morning.... I came across Blogger's Audioblogger
The one limitation is that the max length is 5 minutes... !BUT! It gives you the ability to add audio to your blog from any phone!!! So when you're traveling and don't have web access... !YES! you can still blog!
I've added an audio entry to my Shakstory blog as well. If you haven't been by for a visit (Yes... this is a blog related to my business!) Come on by and listen to Bonnie's story of over coming Crohn's Disease. She is my inspiration!!!!

I'm back!
I can't believe that it's been a couple days since my last post...
It was a glorious day here in Big Horn County Wyoming! I think that it hit 60 degrees.
I worked all morning making calls then took a nice walk after lunch. Oh... it was so nice out!
On my way back a friend stopped by. We sat out on my pretty wooden bench, chatted and enjoyed the springy weather.
Rich is working his way across country with our pillows. First night he made it to Rapid City, SD, then LaCrosse,WI, and tonight... he's stopped in Youngstown, OH. He's making really good time!
Oh, tomorrow... I'm heading to Billings to the Home Show at the Metra! I'm excited about going. I need some ideas for my new house. And... I was thinking that next year... I might like to be an exhibitor. Never a dull moment here!!!
Oh my... it's 11:45pm. Time for bed.
It was a glorious day here in Big Horn County Wyoming! I think that it hit 60 degrees.
I worked all morning making calls then took a nice walk after lunch. Oh... it was so nice out!

Done.. .done... done!!!
My house is very quiet this morning.
You know the feeling when you've been striving to reach a goal... or get a big project done... AND THEN YOU DO? Well, that's how I feel today. Whewwww.....
Pillows are on their way from Wyoming to Massachusetts. I can see my couch and windows once again.
Now to do catch up.... like dishes and vacuuming and general cleaning... My house is a mess! So, if you stop by for a fruit smoothy (I don't drink coffee... sorry!), don't mind the mess.
It's a bright sunny day here. Has been getting up into the 50s. I've been doing such a good job at getting out for a walk every day. I can feel that spring is just around the corner.
I'm debaiting about planting a garden for this year... I feel like there are too many irons in the fire. Soon we'll be back into "house building" mode again.

Hi Everybody!
Well, pillow work is wrapping up! Rich has about 17 more pillows to finish sewing. I've got to bag about 60 more. Rich will be heading to Massachusetts with them tomorrow.
Please pray for good weather as he blazes his trail across the country from Wyoming to Massachusetts!!!!
I'm wrapping up my month in my other business. I'm almost to my goal. Anyone need some awesome all natural vitamins? Here's Bonnie's incredible story. It's about 5 minutes long. If you listen to it... I'd love your feedback!
Very busy day!!!
Oh, this morning I put the clothes from the washer into the dryer.... clink... clink...clink...
What the heck? Woody, you'll like this... one of my boys had found a special rock. Well it's all washed and dried now!
Check in later!

done sewing!!!
Yes, there was NO date night last night. Bummer.... There was just too much work that needed to get done....
Coach Steve was wondering about date night... Rich and I try to get out at least a couple time a month as couple... without kids... it's our date! We go to the movies or for dinner... or go shopping or whatever....
Got something fun planned for today? Woody... fixing your daughter's water heater doesn't sound like fun! But I bet it will be nice just to be over there to see her!
I taught Matthew how to make scrambled eggs this morning. My goal... have the boys each take a night for cooking supper.

Good morning friends!
Today the boys are off from school today for a mini vacation. Now... here's what's very interesting... The past 2 days, it's been a struggle to get them out of bed before 7am. So, I told them last night to go ahead and sleep in as they didn't have school in the morning.
Well.... it must have been 6:30am when I hear the piddle paddle of feet walking about!
I'm happy to report that this is my last day to sew up pillows. I've got 32 in the final stages. I'm going to employ my boys to help me tag, strap, and bad the piles of pillows we've finished (you should see our living room... piles of pillows!!!!).
Tonight... if we can find a sitter...
Rich and I will go for dinner and a movie. It will be a well deserved break!

Good morning fellow blog readers!!
Aaron's off to school, but Matthew's home... doing much better though! The kids are out after lunch today... then have Friday off. Little mini vacation.
Last night Aaron was so sweet... after I disciplined him... got him into bed he said to me... Mommy, you're so beautiful, you have pretty eyes and shiney teeth and...

Just back from a walk. It is simply lovely outside! Just a little nip in the air with bright warming sunshine.
Pillow work is going well. I'm going to get sewing in a minute. I hope to be finished sewing by tomorrow.
It's Matthew's turn to be sick. Aaron went back to school... but he shared his sickness with Matthew. As for me... I refuse to catch any of it!

I was out for my walk this afternoon. What a beautiful day! The birds were busily chirping their declaration of spring. The mountains are sporting only caps of snow. The leaf buds on the cottonwood trees are making ready... The pine trees are loaded with pine cones...
I really enjoyed my walk today!
Just back from Matthew's Blue & Gold banquet. The boys just downed ice cream sundeas. Is there any hope for their getting to sleep?

Tuesday... Tuesday...
Day 2 with Aaron home. Sick in the morning... but spirited and vibrant... in the afternoon. Hmmm....
Just put him to bed for a nap... we'll see how that goes!
The pillow push is on... Rich and I were outside last night at 9pm hauling stuffing (30 pound bags almost as tall as me!) out of the enclosed trailer into the house... then hauling bags of 20 pillows each into the trailer. My house was so full of pillows that I couldn't get into my fridge!
Needless to say... my weight loss program was put on hold for supper time (OK, I had some Dominoes Pizza!). That said... I'm back on track today!!!
I'm running my first EVER newspaper advertisement for my Shaklee business. Wish me luck! It will run for the next 4 weeks in the surrounding towns.
Back to bagging.... How are you today?

It's snowing!
The kittens just came in... they have snowflakes in their fur!
The sky is so gray. But the snow coming down is pretty!
OK, now I'm really... really... going to go get my pillows bagged!

Monday... Monday...
Hi Coach Steve! Welcome back to the kitchen table! I answered your question in the comment section of yesterday's post.
Woody stumbled across my weight loss blog the other day. Thanks for your words of encouragment Woody! I've shed 15 pounds so far! It's incredible how with even just 15 pounds lost... how good I feel. Imagine carrying around 3-5# bags of potatoes around with you... everywhere... I honestly feel lighter and have so much more energy!
Monday...
This week is going to be all out pillow crunch time. Are you tired of hearing about pillows?
You should see my living room! It's got piles and piles of pillows. Today, we're going to strap, tag, and bag them and put them away in the trailer.
My little sickie just in...
He's feeling better today. Temp is gone. But he has a sore throat and is white as a ghost! He wants to get on the internet to check out a Goldfish site. It's amazing how a little 7 year old can just jump on the internet!
OK, got to get going! Pillows to sew... calls to make... Pillows to bag... AND pillows to sew!
I love your comments! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Sunday... Sunday... Gotta love that day...
Good afternoon friends!
My little guy's sick, running a temp. Poor thing! Rich and I traded off going to church meetings. It worked out OK.
I just got back from a nice walk around town. Oh the birds are just singing away. Sounds so pretty! I love going for walks about an hour before sun set. The sunlight is so pretty at that time casting a soft glow on everything.
The mountain tops are all covered in snow. We still have patches of snow on the ground. Mud season is upon us!!
Hey, I've discovered that I like asparagus! Did I already talk about that? I boil it with some crushed red pepper and garlic. My husband who doesn't like asparagus came into the kitchen wanting to know what smelled so good. Ha... Ha...
Well, I'm off to make my family tacos. Shall I save one for you? Crunchy or soft shell?

Good morning~The boys slept at grandma's last night. It was a little weird waking up and not hearing their voices. I'm sure they'll be back home soon, Grandpa's got to go do chores at the farm.
Pillow work is flying along. We plan to be done by Thursday. Whew...
Have you ever visited whatsfordinner.net? Jean has all kinds of yummy recipes for each day of the week. I was just salvating over Creamy Chicken Enchiladas. It's a fun place to go to get some new dinner ideas.
It looks like it could snow today. The sky has that look. Woody, I wonder what your wife's toe would say about the weather?

Friday is allowance day at my house. The boys get a couple dollars each. The goal is for them to learn money skills...
They also have the opportunity to earn more when I post extra chores on the fridge or when they help us in our pillow business.
Well, Aaron (who is in 1st grade) took on the job of turning 70 pillows at 5 cents each, the other day. So today he came into my office and I gave him his $2 for allowance. Well... he says to me... no Mom, I'm supposed to get $5.50.
His math skills are constantly amazing me!
Oh I went for a walk after lunch and then again before supper. It was about 45 minutes before dusk. Oh the sky was so beautiful... all pink. Everything had a wonderful pink glow. The mountains look incredible at this time of day... in a pink hue.

The kids are off from school today, but are off in a little bit for roller skating. They can't wait!
Guess what I'm doing today?
Note to self:
Get out for a nice long walk today... don't wait till supper time, then looking outside, see the black of night!

Pillows... then taxes...
Good morning. It's a beautiful sunny day here, but chilly.
I'm about ready to plunge back into pillow work.
As soon as I'm done with this pillow campaign, I'll be switching gears. As a small business owner, I've got to get all my business stuff together for taxes. You know, I love creating, speaking with clients... but the paperwork stuff is the challenging part for me. Luckily, I'm extremely blessed with an accountant husband who has great organization skills!
I bet that you already have your taxes done!

There's a little less of me...
Yeah!!!! I've shed an additional 2 pounds and 2 1/2 inches for week 2 in my team-15 program!!! In total, I'm down 13 pounds and 8 1/2 inches. I feel the difference! Lots more to go though!
The boys are off to school and ahhhh... yes... my house is nice and quiet again. Soon the sound of my industrial sewing machine will fill the air as I zoom thru piles of pillows.
I have the opportunity to work with people all over the US and Canada in my Shaklee business. Yesterday I got a call from a wonderful woman in Arkansas. She had lost her distributor. What a nice person! It's amazing how some people have that special gift of making you feel so at ease when you speak with them. It was such a joy to speak with her!

Busy day.... got to get a couple hundred more pillows sewn up.
It was nice to go out last night for dinner. How was your Valentines Day?
Well, all I can think about right now is the piles of fabric that need to be turned into breastfeeding pillows.... so I'd better get to it!!!!

Happy Valentines Day!
Greetings friends!
Happy Valentines Day to you. We're heading out for dinner at our local cafe. They're having a a special turkey & beef buffet with all the fixings.
It was so nice to have the kids back to school today. It was a really tough weekend. Too little sleep and too much company....
Pillow work is cruising along. There are now 80 pillows bagged and loaded into the trailer. Lots more are in process.

No more sleep overs!
Kids up too late...
Cranky, fighting, arguing... big brother hit little brother with a sling shot... little brother in near fist fight with best buddy...
Kids to bed EARLY tonight. Hoping for some sense of normalcy tomorrow.
Wish me luck! Better yet... please say a prayer.
Moral of the story. Kids need to be in bed on time! Good night!

Aaron packed a cold lunch...
On Thursday, Aaron (7 years old) decided that he was going to pack a cold lunch for school. I still don't understand why he didn't want to have turkey in gravy, with mashed potatoes, salad, roll, and rice crispy treat for desert!
So, here's what he... yes he.. himself packed:
1 gogurt
handful of pretzels
(As you read the next list remember...I'm eating a lot of veggies as part of my new me and team-15 program weight shedding pgm)
handful of sprouts (yes sprouts!)
a few slices of cucumber
some celery sticks
some mixed lettuce
some little grape tomatoes
a few blueberries
a couple slices of cheddar cheese
Whew. In my astonishment... I asked him if he was sure that THAT was what he wanted to take. YES.
In his bag came home, some lettuce, tomatoes, and blueberries... that's it!

Two eyes looking at me...
I passed by my (front loading) washer last night only to see the reflection of two eyes looking at me from the inside of my washer! After getting over being startled...
My mishevious, midnight black, kitten Cuddles had found his way into the open washer.

We're back...
I'm sneaking onto the computer quick before I have to run out to a meeting.
We're just back from the ski trip in Red Lodge Montana. It was a fantastic day, beautiful, sunny, warm.. must have been in the 50's. The kids had such a good time.
Matthew looked so good in his bright yellow LL Bean jacket and bright red hat. I could always spot him coming down the trail. There were many times I saw him down in the snow... trying to figure out how to get up.
Matthew just reported to me that he "felt as though he was doing 50mph down the trail." And the chair lift didn't have any seat belts. It looked scarey to me to up in those chairs!!!!
Got to run. Thanks for your visits and comments!!!!

Bound for Red Lodge Montana...
Hi guys! This is my early blog entry for Thursday.
Tomorrow is Matthew's ski trip with his 5th grade class. I'm going along to be the ski lodge mamma. (I haven't skiied since I was a kid!)
When I volunteered... I forgot that I had previously scheduled church meeting... so tomorrow will be non-stop for me.
I'm looking forward to seeing the kids ski and getting to know them better. I told Matthew that this will be a day he will probably remember his whole life.
The last time that I went skiing, I went as a youth with the church youth group. We went 2 years in a row. What a great time we had!!! A little mischieve... but mostly a great time!
I've been really enjoying all your comments. My blog is becoming more and more like "sitting around the kitchen table"... a relaxed place of sharing and fun. Sorry that I can't share anything yummy with you while we visit.

Good morning friends!
Team-15 report:
I'm excited to report that I've shed 11 pounds and 6 inches!!!! Today starts week 2.
Matthew's going on a ski trip to Red Lodge tomorrow with his class. It'll be his first time skiing! What a fun time.
I'll be making some chocolate chip cookies for him to take along and share. Shall I save you a couple?
We got some more snow last night. Everything is covered again. Looks so pretty!
Hey, did you see the photo of the spider web over on Woody's blog? What a neat photo.

Got 40 pillows done and another 20 more in process...
Supper time:
We're going to have this yummy chicken. I'm going to enlist Matthew's help as he asked for this dish for supper.
I'm finishing week one on the Team-15 weight shedding program. Weigh-in will be tomorrow.
So far... so good! :)
Thanks to all of you who so kindly sent us shivering Wyoming country folk a few warm degrees. It is greatly appreciated!

Burrr... morning...
Greetings from the deep freeze here in cowboy country.... burrrrr....
I was really too generous last week when I sent off some of our warm degrees. Please be so kind as to some warmth... if you can spare some.
I'd like to be a cat in my next life. Laying on the floor next to me is our black kitty, we call Cuddles. He snuggled on the rug, in the warmest spot in the house... all warm and cozy. Hey, maybe that's why I'm cold! My kitten is absorbing all the heat!
OK, back to pillows.

It's snowing...
We woke up to snow this morning. Everything's covered again. And it sure is cold today... down to the teens.
It is so pretty outside. Little flakes blowing around. The trees are doing their share of snow collection. The pasture is already covered.
The Pats won! See, it took us leaving New England for the Sox to finally win and the Pats...
Congratulations Patriots!
I'm on day 6 of Team-15 weight mgt program. I am feeling so much better! I have more energy. I'm not tired after I eat anymore. And... my junk food cravings are gone!!!
You can even see my weight loss in my face. The first thing that I noticed was that the puffiness under my eyes dissappeared.... for which I'm so grateful! I was looking "older then my years." Or at least older than I feel in my heart!!!!
Well, back to pillows!
And... my junk food cravings are gone!!!

a Restful Sunday...
It's Sunday. We've been to church. Visited Grandma. Took a brief nap... Ah, Sundays are good!
I've got beef stew simmering in the crock pot. Going to go make some bread to go with it.
I'm preparing myself mentally for the upcoming week. I'll be spending a lot of time at the sewing machine... making lots of pillows. Rich will be heading back east with them on 2/25 (we're hoping for good weather!)
Come on by and say "hello!"

It's Saturday...
The boys are watching cartoons, Yugioh and Pokemon. It's a Saturday tradition.
Hey, where did the sun go? We're back to winter looks like... might even get some snow.
I seem to be at a loss for words this morning...
I'm enjoying reading this book for personal development. Never really thought about having a personal brand... and using it to help move my businesses forward... but it sure makes a lot of sense.
Last week, I read this book for fun. I love the Beverly Lewis books about the Amish community.
Pillow count: 140...
What's on your agenda today? I might take the boys to a movie..

Went to see Aviator tonight. I really enjoyed it.
My little guy has taken up tree climbing... he and his buddy. I remember climbing a big tree in a friends yard... only to find myself sliding back down with the bark getting the better of me.
Well, my poor little guy came in crying. He had just slid down the tree. Ouch!
Pillow count is 110.

Veggies & Fruit
It's a beautiful sunny day here in this little cowboy town. I find the sun so cheery, don't you?
I'm off to the grocery for some more veggies. I started a "weight mgt" plan yesterday, called Team-15. First week is all fruits and veggies. Whew...
Best be off... 65mph to the grocery store next town over... past open farm land with grazing black angus... giant rolls of yellow hay stacks... stacked sugar beets waiting to be processed into sugar... surrounded by snow topped mountains.

No, I didn't get lost!
Where did the day go to? I got right to business this morning and forgot all about my blog entry.
Rich and I had an enjoyable day in the "big" city of Billings, MT. (Don't forget... I'm from Boston!) We had lunch at the Red Lobster, they had the shrimp special on.... oh, so good!
Woody, I'm sorry about your ticket in Buffalo, WY. The town police are very strict about the speed limit. Our town police officer sits at the entry to our little town (where you can go NO faster than 30mph) just waiting to catch unsuspecting out-of-towners. Or in-towners for that matter... who forget...momentarily... where they are!
It's been a productive day here in cowboy town. I'm making my way through sewing up 500+ nursing pillows. Still have lots of sewing to do! We have a large order that is heading back east the end of the month...

Off to the big city...
Good morning! A quick blog entry....
Rich and I are off to the big city for the day. I'm really looking forward to going for lunch.
Got to stop by JoAnn's Fabric for some flannel to back my quilts...
Check in later. Hope you have a nice one!

That darn steer...
Between our house and my in-laws is a large pasture area. Every year they raise one or two steers for beef.
Last summer this black and white steer would find a out of the pasture and take himself to "greener" pastures. One time he was all the out the other side of town!
It was August, hot... in the 90's in the heat of the sun when I was coming home from the grocery to find that cow taking himself on down the road.... In minutes the troops were assembled to retrieve him. I had gate duty.
Being a city girl this was my first time participating in a cow round up. Heck, I thought you could put a rope around his neck and lead him back, you know... like a dog or something. Well, the guys got the cow near the open fence and he started coming toward me.... Yikes! That was a big animal with horns.
All summer long that darn steer would get out. His days became numbered....

The boys are back to school!
It's a good day here in cowboy town! Both of my boys are all better and off to school!!!
How was your weekend?
The sun is shining, the snow is melting...
It's been a bit overcast here the past few days, so it is really nice to see the sun.
Did you see the new addition to my blog page? I was inspired by Woody's weather pixie and decided to add my own.
Speaking of Woody's site... just popped by there. He just added these cools links to the left sidebar.
